Listen Up

Music collection frozen in time? Same! So meet my fabulous 26 year old niece Jenna who works in the music industry. Each week she’s sending me something to listen to add to my playlist so I’m never caught listening to Hall and Oates on my ipod again.

Arcade Fire ‘The Suburbs’

A couple years ago I had the pleasure of witnessing Canadian band Arcade Fire performing at the Big Day Out. Arcade Fire albums are ones you can play from start to finish – which is a rare feat these days so start listening to them! You may’ve heard of them already – they were that band who won ‘Album Of The Year’ at the 2011 GRAMMYS (for ‘The Suburbs’) and all the mainstream kids were like “who the fuck are Arcade Fire?!?”

    Thanks again Jenna. soothing. Nice.

Can you tell us what is worth going to at Womad 2013 ? You are too young to be an Old Hippy but I sense if you had been born around the same time as Aunty Sandy you would be. I usually take the stroll around at Womad and see what sounds good approach but would be nice to go for once a little better prepared.

      Thanks for the comment Suzanne!

I’ve never been to Womad (a little hippy for my personal taste at this point in time!) I must say though, going around a festival without adhering to a strict timetable is great and I’ve discovered some amazing acts just by stumbling upon them!

Had a quick look over the line-up – A Hori-Buzz should put on a great set as Aaron Tokona (Cairo Knife Fight) is awesome on stage. I’d also definitely check out Electric Wire Hustle Family too. Haven’t witnessed the latter live before – but some friends of mine love them. Have a great time!
