Catch Up

Great Barrier Island Beatlemania

Here’s an inspiring idea if you want your next party to be an absolute blast. Hire the Tim Armstrong Band who also do a side gig as The Beatles ( wigs, Sgt Peppers satin outfits, the works).

Call me old fashioned but I LOVE the Beatles and last year took my husband to see the Bootleg Beatles ex UK as part of his 50th Birthday celebrations. They were great, but trust me, this NZ tribute band are just as good. So we got them to do a gig at the Great Barrier Social Club in Tryphena to celebrate the tenth anniversary of my fave Great Barrier cause the GBI Charitable Trust – who have the island’s environmental interests at heart. It went off! How could it not? With a view over Tryphena harbour, a bunch of crazy locals mixing it with the Medlands holidaymakers in party mode, and of course John Paul George and Ringo. Yes that was me on the GOGO dancing podium at the front, no photos to be tagged on facebook please.

The Tim Armstrong Band hail from the Waikato and while their main act is as a covers band they do occasionally come out as The Beatles ( my friend dates ‘Ringo’).
So if you are in the mood for three sets of Beatlemania spanning those early clean cut days, the Sgt Pepper era, and those sunset hippie years, these guys will rock n roll it. Ring them (07) 8891128
