Dress Up

Nothing to wear? Probably not quite true, but wouldn’t it be easier if we just streamlined our wardrobes to 50 must have pieces? That’s what I’m doing anyway...

The Ralph Lauren Polo Shirt

I have just blown some a sizable amount of cash at the January sales – now that I have realized that i just can’t shoehorn my life into 50 wardrobe pieces. But I did try and limit it to must-haves. One of these was a classic Ralph Lauren polo. Have always wanted one. They suit anyone, and always look chic I feel. I am a HUGE fan of Ralph – I love his perfected expression of a fantasy Waspish American East Coast life even though he doesn’t hide the fact that he himself was born Ralph Lifshitz to Polish immigrants in the Bronx. I love how he has built and carefully curated this brand around an upper class aesthetic that he witnessed growing up and has sold it back to those who really aspire to have it. Inauthentic? I don’t know, I call it brand savvy and it helps that it really is a lifestyle and look he loves and believes in. Last year I was gifted the massive Ralph Lauren compendium by my friend who runs Redcurrent. I love flicking through the heavy glossy pages – it reminds me how the best brands come from a singular vision of a creative genius who absolutely love what they do. And the whole brand just comes alive as soon as you walk into the store….He deserves my money. Anyway, I got a navy blue with a silver logo. Expect to see me at the Polo, anytime soon.
